Dilly bags -We call it Balji in our Kuku Yalanji language, were made traditional by women they are typically woven out of natural plant fibres. I been told that two of my Grandmother’s from my Mother’s side were very good Yalanji weaves, sadly they have both passed now.
I can not weave at this moment in time but one day I would like to learn and carry this tradition on. But for now I though that I would paint the balji/dilly bags.
The Balji/dilly bag is manly used for gathering bush tucker.
