Zeila Wallace

Yuku-Baja-Muliku Traditional Owner

Zeila is a contemporary Aboriginal artist from the Kuku Yalanji and Guugu Yimithirr Warra Tribes of Cape York. Born in Cairns and raised in the community of Wujal Wujal, she developed a deep connection to her cultural heritage and the natural beauty of her surroundings. Zeila is a proud Jalunji Warra, a from Yuku Baja Muliku “Annan River & Archer Point”.

Growing up surrounded by family and deeply immersed in her culture, Zeila enjoyed painting and drawing from an early age. In 2010, she began her professional career as an artist, driven by a passion for sharing the stories and traditions of her ancestors.

Zeila’s artworks reflect her connection to Country, kinship, totems, and family outings on Country. Each piece she creates tells a meaningful story, capturing the essence of her cultural heritage and the spiritual beliefs passed down through generations.

Now a mother, Zeila loves encouraging her two children to explore their creativity and immerse themselves in the stories that have always inspired her. Through her art, she hopes to keep her cultural legacy alive and share the beauty of her people’s history. Zeila is a proud Jalunji Warra, a traditional owner for Yuku Baja Muliku.
